FOCUS On Commercial & Property Services
Meet Jon Tatam
Tell us about yourself and your career journey?
I am a family man with three young children aged 2-7 and not forgetting one crazy Labrador! I started my career in electrical retail and wholesale where I spent eight years in various management and business development type roles before moving into the credit and finance sector where I worked for a further 4 years in senior management positions.
My move into High Court enforcement happened by pure chance in 2013 following an unusual set of circumstances but it is fair to say that since falling into it, I have not looked back.
How did you end up at Court Enforcement Services?
In early 2020 I became available unexpectedly after working in a similar role to the one I am in now at another High Court enforcement company.
I circulated an open letter within the industry to secure a new role, which, came to the attention of the executive team at Court Enforcement Services and resulted in me securing employment with the business.
What is your role in the business?
I am Head of Commercial and Property Services. Essentially, my department handles all enforcement matters aside from Writs of Control used to recover money judgments – we have a whole other dedicated team for that arm of the business.
Since my appointment, I have been tasked with taking on and growing the Commercial and Property Services department. This is a challenge I am looking forward to being able to tackle properly once we have seen off the rest of the pandemic and things develop into some form of normality.
What benefits does your role bring to the client and customer journey?
My role and the department in itself offers clients a range of recovery options for various property and collection matters. Rather than just being able to try and recover monies owed under a CCJ, we can assist in a range of ways by offering alternative solutions to a number of common problems. For example, in litigation and insolvency matters through process serving, the recovery of assets under Return of Goods Orders if funds are not readily available, the repossession of both commercial and residential property if rent arrears are owing, the recovery of commercial rent arrears under the CRAR process outside of needing the Courts. We also regularly deal with trespasser incursions and remove such trespassers or squatters under both a Common Law remedy and also by way of Court Order.
Once we have secured a property for our client, we are perfectly placed to offer numerous security solutions to keep it vacant and prevent further problems. The department is essentially a ‘one stop shop’ for all enforcement requirements. We have a 100% success rate in all property related matters so our clients know that when it comes to obtaining and maintaining vacant possession of a site, we will be successful.
What is different about Court Enforcement Services?
Court Enforcement Services has a great approach to everything that we do. Not only are we completely focused on doing the right thing by our clients, but we look at the bigger picture within the industry as a whole and the knock-on effect of everything that we do. We ensure that our actions do not have any negative impact on the way the industry operates, unless it is to bring about a positive change and then we will strive to drive that through and have been instrumental in doing so on a number of matters.
Whilst we are a market leader in terms of size and stature, we do not have the “sausage factory” mentality of striving for large numbers without consideration for our clients which can creep in as organisations almost grow beyond their capabilities. Everything we do is controlled, managed and in our clients’ interests as we always aim to protect their interests.
Why do you like working at Court Enforcement Services?
Professionally speaking, as I have explained, the whole company ethos is refreshing and a great doctrine to work under. We are procedurally precise and ensure that compliance and client satisfaction are the front runners in all actions.
Personally speaking, whilst being relatively new here, I have been made to feel nothing other than completely welcomed and at home. I am afforded the freedom to grow and develop the department in the way I know best for both us and our clients. Everything is built entirely around the solid framework of an industry leading provider.
What do you hope the future holds for Court Enforcement Services?
The future holds great prospects for us. Despite the pandemic, in contrast to almost all other companies in our sector, we have actually recruited new staff and grown during that period. If we can successfully do that in times of hardship, then once we come out of the other side the growth and service offerings should only blossom. I cannot see why it would not be appropriate to quote Del Boy in saying “The world is our lobster”.
Why would you recommend Court Enforcement Services?
Our service offering and success rates are second to none. We are a market leading company with a wealth of experience throughout the company, especially at Senior Management and Director level. We achieve the results our clients want in a “Fast” time frame, in a manner that is “Fair” for everyone involved and act in all matters to be beneficial “For You”. Essentially, we are; Fast. Fair. For You.
